University of Lethbridge
Business Corporation

The University of Lethbridge Business Corporation (ULBC) is a newly established company with the purpose of leading land development projects and managing properties on land within the University of Lethbridge campus. Development projects will take place on land that is not necessary for the academic or research efforts of the University and will include a mix of residential and commercial spaces.

The University of Lethbridge and the ULBC are separate organizations, with the ULBC operating at arms’ length under its own Board of Directors. All profits earned by the ULBC will go to the University of Lethbridge as the sole beneficiary. These funds will be used to support the core academic operations of the institution and will contribute to creating a long-term, sustainable revenue stream for the University.

The spaces we create are nothing without the people who enjoy them. Under the guidance of our team and Board of Directors, we envision the creation of vibrant spaces with lasting positive social, environmental, and economic impacts. By creating spaces for people to live, shop, work, and play, we aim to enrich the community landscape and expand the legacy of the University.

If you have visited the University of Lethbridge campus in West Lethbridge, you have probably noticed the expansive land area on its south property. This land area of approximately 100 acres is owned by the University but is not necessary for its academic or research pursuits. As such, a decision was made to develop this land and re-imagine it as a thriving addition to the West Lethbridge landscape.

The University is currently conducting a comprehensive market analysis project that will guide the South Campus development. This analysis will inform decisions on the specific residential and commercial development of the land. The objective is to see the land transformed into a thriving community comprised of some combination of retailers, restaurants, housing, and/or other services.

This development project will take a phased approach that will benefit the University and surrounding community to shop, live, work and play. The expected completion timeline is eight to ten years. Planning for the project will begin in early 2024 with the first phase of development expected to begin in 2025.
